The Education Department of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band is seeking applications for a full-time term position at Sally Ross School located in Hall Lake, Saskatchewan.

Position: Principal

The Principal is responsible for the overall administration and functioning of the school, ensuring compliance with local policies and provincial curriculum requirements. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Education, Superintendent, and the Education Board, the Principal will oversee, manage, coordinate, and supervise all educational and administrative operations within the school.

Core responsibilities include:

• Leading long-term planning, development, leadership, and budget oversight for the school's operations.
• Offering guidance, leadership, and direction to teaching staff, paraprofessionals, and support personnel.
• Managing the school budget, including reviewing, analyzing, and modifying budgets to ensure adherence to allocated expenditures.
• Setting and implementing both long-term and short-term academic goals and objectives for the school year.
• Ensuring compliance with the school year calendar, class schedules, and the implementation of the Saskatchewan curriculum.
• Developing and executing a public relations strategy to raise community awareness of the school and its programs.
• Promoting the active participation in school extracurricular activities, including sports, recreational, and cultural events.
• Evaluating all educational staff in accordance with the LLRIB Personnel Policy Manual.
• Completing required reports and maintaining accurate records of transactions and statistics.

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Education degree and a Saskatchewan Professional A teaching certificate; preference will be given to those with a Master’s Degree or Post-Graduate training.
• Administrative experience in a First Nation school is preferred.
• Familiarity with budget management, school policies, student safety standards, and human resources management is beneficial.
• A strong team player committed to collaborating with community members, the education board, and the administrative team.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with the capability to resolve conflicts objectively and compassionately.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• A robust work ethic and the ability to adapt to challenges.
• An understanding of the aspirations and needs of First Nation communities and empathy for First Nation children.
• Willingness to conduct home visits and assist with attendance requirements.
• Knowledge of the Early Years Evaluation (EYE) is advantageous.
• A valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Ability to provide a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Verification of previous teaching experience (if applicable) is required.

Compensation
