About This Role

GEMS Cambridge International School in Abu Dhabi is seeking enthusiastic Primary Teachers to join our educational community starting August 2026. The ideal candidate will motivate and engage primary students by delivering exceptional lessons that spark curiosity and nurture a passion for learning. Overall Function and Purpose

The role involves educating students in line with the National Curriculum Framework, guided by the relevant educational authority. You will teach and evaluate your assigned students based on their educational needs while delivering the appropriate curriculum to help each student achieve academic success and contribute to the broader school community.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver the mandated curriculum with accurate and up-to-date knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment that promotes optimal student outcomes.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons tailored to the diverse abilities of all students in the class.
  • Teach based on the specific educational needs, capabilities, and accomplishments of both individual students and groups.
  • Actively engage in the implementation of the school's development plan.
  • Assign, correct, and evaluate work completed by students in accordance with the school’s marking policy.
  • Set high expectations for every student in the class, guiding them to realize their potential and maintain high standards in their work.
  • Assess, document, and report on the progress, development, and behavior of your students.
  • Analyze data to adapt your teaching practices, ensuring all learners reach their full potential.
  • Provide or contribute to both oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individual students or groups.
  • Engage in national frameworks for evaluating student performance.
  • Promote the overall progress and welfare of individual students, groups, or classes assigned to you.
  • Offer guidance and advice on educational and social matters, including further education and personal goals.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other school staff, including those in special responsibilities, as well as with parents and guardians.
  • Reflect on and assess your own teaching strategies and methodologies in line with the National Curriculum Framework guidelines to enhance classroom learning.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School, Deputy Heads, Assistant Head Teachers, Heads of Years, and fellow teachers in developing curricula, teaching materials, teaching methods, assessment techniques, and pastoral care arrangements.
  • Uphold high standards of professional practice and quality teaching and learning in your subject areas.
  • Engage in peer reviews and class observations with the Head of Year through constructive dialogue.
  • Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities and engage in action research initiatives.
  • Maintain discipline and order among the students under your care while ensuring their health and safety at all times.
  • Report any safety concerns affecting students, whether emotional or physical, to the school’s safeguarding officer.
  • Participate in staff meetings or group discussions related to the school curriculum or pastoral care for the effective organization and administration of the school.
  • Contribute to the professional growth of new teachers and student teachers according to agreements with the Head of School.
  • Provide necessary information and assistance to designated personnel regarding requisitions and teaching arrangements.
  • Ensure the safe use and proper maintenance of equipment utilized during lessons and oversee its regular servicing.
  • Safeguard the custody of the laptop, whiteboard pen, and remote provided to you at the start of your employment.
  • Participate in school assemblies and parent meetings as outlined by the school.
