Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons, materials, and content that align with the Saulteaux Curriculum specific to Yellow Quill First Nation.
  • Employ a variety of learning methods (including digital, visual, and hands-on activities) to cater to different learning preferences.
  • Create a safe, engaging, and supportive atmosphere for all students.
  • Conduct initial assessments and continue with both formal and informal evaluations to monitor student progress.
  • Evaluate student performance and produce reports for parents and staff.
  • Grade assignments, assessments, and tests, providing constructive feedback and highlighting strengths to encourage learning.
  • Maintain effective communication with students, colleagues, stakeholders, and parents/caregivers.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to oversee student conduct, document behaviors, and track development.
  • Stay updated on relevant policies and standards, particularly concerning child protection and safety.
  • Participate in continual professional development and work collaboratively with colleagues to improve educational outcomes for all students.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree
  • Valid Professional “A” Teaching Certificate
  • Familiarity with Saulteaux Culture is preferred, or a readiness to learn
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Dedication to innovative and flexible teaching approaches that meet diverse student needs
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and engage with the community

Compensation
