About This Role

Head of Teaching & Learning

The Head of Teaching & Learning will provide both strategic and operational guidance to promote excellence in teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and the professional growth of staff. This role is crucial in supporting the school's mission while ensuring compliance with international standards and accreditation requirements.

1. Instructional Leadership
• Supervise and assess effective teaching and learning practices

• Conduct classroom observations and offer instructional coaching

• Promote differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies

• Champion inquiry-based and student-centered learning practices

• Ensure alignment with Common Core/AP/IB standards

2. Curriculum & Assessment
• Oversee the mapping and documentation of the curriculum

• Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment across grade levels

• Develop and manage assessment policies and practices

• Use data to inform teaching and intervention strategies

• Confirm that the curriculum meets international and accreditation benchmarks

3. Professional Development
• Design a robust professional development program

• Support teacher growth through coaching and mentorship

• Evaluate the impact of professional development on student performance

• Lead professional learning communities (PLCs)

• Maintain records of training and professional development activities

4. Accreditation & School Improvement
• Assist with accreditation processes and the collection of evidence

• Align teaching and learning practices with accreditation criteria

• Participate in school self-assessment and action planning

• Monitor progress towards school-wide goals

• Prepare documentation and reports for accreditation reviews

5. Collaboration & Leadership
• Work closely with division leaders and department heads

• Facilitate the onboarding and mentoring process for new teachers

• Encourage collaboration among different departments

• Clearly communicate academic expectations to staff and parents

• Support school initiatives and participate in strategic planning

6. Safeguarding & Student Well-Being
• Ensure safe and inclusive learning environments are established

• Promote social-emotional learning (SEL) and initiatives supporting student well-being

• Integrate safeguarding practices within classrooms

• Model ethical and professional behavior

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
