The Opportunity:

For the 2026-27 academic year, we are seeking a French and Spanish Teacher to join our Senior and Middle School on a full-time, permanent basis. The ideal candidate will be equipped to teach French at both the extended and core levels and provide introductory lessons in Spanish. In an environment that prioritizes social-emotional learning, diversity, equity, and inclusion, the successful applicant will demonstrate empathy, creativity, strong communication skills, and the ability to cultivate nurturing relationships with students and colleagues. This position falls within the Modern and Classical Languages team and reports to the department's Instructional Leader. This role addresses an existing vacancy, with a start date set for August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Fostering a classroom atmosphere that promotes learning and personal growth through a focus on social-emotional learning.
- Motivating students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge essential for a strong educational foundation tailored to their individual needs.
- Establishing robust relationships with parents, faculty, and staff.
- Ensuring that the curriculum delivered, assessed, and taught is in accordance with the IB framework and Ministry of Education standards while allowing for differentiation.
- Designing culturally relevant, inclusive, and responsive French curricula that cater to diverse learners.
- Developing comprehensive course outlines, unit plans, and lesson plans that encompass all facets of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, emphasizing inquiry-based learning.
- Maintaining accurate records in compliance with the Ministry, IBO, and school protocols.
- Regularly communicating with students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress, including formal updates through report cards and parent-teacher conferences.
- Remaining up-to-date and implementing best practices in education through professional reading, attending workshops, and pursuing ongoing professional development.
- Actively participating in faculty, department, and division meetings and collaborating with course teams to plan, assess, and refine the written curriculum.
- Engaging in co-curricular activities and providing student supervision as needed.
- Offering additional support to students outside designated classroom hours.
- Serving as an Advisor to mentor students through regular meetings.

Candidate Profile:

- A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialization in Spanish and/or French.
- Ontario College of Teachers certification or an equivalent qualification with Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Spanish and/or French is preferred.
- Familiarity with the IB curriculum is highly desirable.
- Strong competencies in curriculum development and assessment practices relevant to various educational levels.
- A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching into their teaching approach.
- Experience or a keen interest in integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into the curriculum.
- A commitment to innovation and collaboration.
- Proficient with relevant technology and able to operate effectively in a digital and online environment.
- Capable of delivering educational programs electronically and utilizing digital communication to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Alignment with and belief in Branksome Hall’s mission, vision, and values; passionate about teaching and dedicated to serving students and the community.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a collaborative team player.

Target Hiring Range: The faculty grid ranges from $70,903.08 - $134,998.82.
