About This Role

The School

Deira International School (DIS) is an award-winning institution recognized by BSO and KHDA as Outstanding. Nestled in Festival City, Dubai, DIS boasts a stunning campus and was honored in 2023 with the Education Excellence Award for ‘School Team of the Year,’ in addition to being a Platinum Award holder for ‘Best Place to Work.’ These accolades underscore our dedication to staff wellbeing and a vibrant school community.

Catering to students aged 3–18, DIS operates as a not-for-profit school under the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation. Established in 2005, the school is celebrated for its exceptional, inclusive, and holistic educational approach. Our latest inspection revealed several strengths:

  • Staff express strong pride in the school, recognizing its effective leadership, safety, and inclusivity.
  • The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment throughout the school is exceptional.
  • Teachers maintain high expectations, consistently motivating students to reach their full potential.
  • Staff members feel respected, valued, and treated equitably.
  • The curriculum is meticulously planned, well-organized, and effectively builds on previous learning.
  • There is a pronounced emphasis on academic progress and achievement.

With a diverse student population representing over 90 nationalities, our community ethos is vital to DIS. Our outstanding facilities promote a holistic educational experience, offering extensive opportunities in sports, performing arts, technology, leadership, creativity, and academic enrichment.

Although we do not employ selective admissions, our students achieve remarkable examination results, comparable to the top UK schools, and often advance to prestigious universities worldwide. Digital literacy is integrated across the curriculum, preparing students for the challenges of an ever-evolving world.

In the Early Years, our tailored, play-based continuous provision ensures that students are thoroughly assessed according to the EYFS framework, laying solid foundations for their future learning. In Primary, students enjoy a broad and enriching curriculum, which includes various non-core subjects. In Secondary, students undertake IGCSEs in Year 11 before moving on to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

DIS is overseen by the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF), a not-for-profit initiative of the Al-Futtaim family, which aligns with the vision of the Government of Dubai and KHDA to provide future-ready education while maximizing positive social impact.
