About This Role

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Counseling, Academic and Vocational Information, Psychology, etc.) is required.
 Bilingual proficiency in both English and French (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential.

SUMMARY:
The Academic Advisor plays a vital role in aiding students as they transition into college, guiding them through their academic paths, and preparing them for future post-secondary endeavors. This position involves offering advice and information on program and course selections, available services, the Règlement des études collégiales, and the College's evaluation policies while staying informed about admission criteria to effectively support students in their academic pursuits and progression.

DUTIES:
Reporting to the Director of Student Services, the Academic Advisor will:
• Guide and support students in comprehending their program and academic progression, which includes diploma requirements, course selection, workload management, course withdrawals and abandonments, extended graduation timelines, incomplete notations, summer school options, and online/commandite courses.
• Assist students with any program modifications.
• Help students navigate college regulations, including academic accommodations, ongoing learning support, academic standing, grade reviews, and addressing teacher complaints.
• Engage in the academic appeal process as per Bylaw 5.
• Provide guidance on university planning, encompassing admission requirements, application processes, and scholarship opportunities.
• Connect students with additional support services, such as career and personal counseling, Accessibility Services, financial aid, Learning Centre resources, and educational technician assistance.
• Aid students in administrative tasks, including transcript requests, registration confirmations, and similar activities.
• Direct academic concerns to Academic Services for further action, addressing issues such as summer course requirements and concerns about teaching and evaluation practices outlined in Policy 5.
• Contribute to the creation and execution of promotional materials and events, including the Student Viewbook, Open House, Heritage Day, Parent Information Night, and High School Education Fairs.
• Engage in student success initiatives, including Orientation, probation follow-ups, the Mid-term Saver event, and the Graduation Ceremony.
• Participate in program evaluation efforts.
• Join committees focused on reviewing college, program, and departmental bylaws, policies, and related procedures.
• Carry out other related responsibilities as needed.

$55,812.00 - $95,643.00
