About the School
Situated in the scenic hamlet of Pangnirtung, Nunavut, Attagoyuk Ilisavik serves approximately 250 students in grades 6-12, supported by a staff of 30. The school and the surrounding community are rich in Inuit cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- Valid teaching certificate recognized by or eligible for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated teachers without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials assessed through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
Candidates need not fulfill every qualification; relevant experience and a commitment to community-centered education are highly valued.

Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both verbal and written)
- Experience in supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL settings
- Experience in cross-cultural or northern Canadian teaching contexts

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Familiarity with differentiated instruction and inclusive practices
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development
- Experience using contemporary assessment methods to guide learning
- Proficiency in creating a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management strategies (e.g. Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports)

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in establishing respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Proven ability to promote student wellbeing and engagement
- Experience in connecting with students outside the classroom when appropriate

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience in collaboratively planning instruction and student support
- Proven ability to work as part of a school team
- Experience in learning and contributing within a community-focused environment

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Pangnirtung, Nunavut: $19,077
- Subsidized Housing: Available, though sharing may be necessary

Conditions of Employment
- Applicants currently employed by the Government of Nunavut must possess a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Applicants from outside Nunavut must provide a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications lacking this documentation will not be considered.
