We are currently seeking a 0.75 FTE School Nurse for our Morven Campus (Grades 8 - 12). The School Nurse plays a crucial role in promoting and safeguarding the health and well-being of students in Grades 8–12 by delivering direct care, health education, and preventive services, while closely collaborating with the Student Support Team to ensure cohesive care. This position serves as a reliable resource for students, staff, and families, balancing clinical care with advice and advocacy. The School Nurse will partner with another 0.75 FTE School Nurse within the campus health centre and will be employed during the academic year (when classes are in session). This is a permanent role, requiring 30 hours of work per week, beginning August 28, 2026.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing, addressing, and managing both urgent and non-urgent health issues.
- Providing guidance and counseling to students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding mental and physical health topics.
- Educating on current health trends, communicable diseases, wellness practices, and preventive measures to encourage long-term health.
- Maintaining and reviewing medical documentation to ensure accurate health records for students and staff.
- Participating in weekly Student of Concern meetings and contributing to discussions on the Health and Safety Committee.
- Performing nursing procedures within the licensed scope of practice, adhering to established policies and procedural guidelines.
Required qualifications:
- Current BCCNP registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Basic Life Support (HCP) Certification.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a pediatric or acute care setting; OFA 2 or 3 Certification is an asset.
- Strong management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Capability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively with colleagues.
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information related to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
- Canadian residency and legal eligibility to work in Canada.
