About This Role

Associate Teacher, Junior School (Kindergarten - Grade 7)

Full-time Fixed-term Contract 2026 - 2027

At Crofton House School, we inspire girls to discover and reach their personal best from junior kindergarten through grade 12 and beyond. Rooted in our commitment to the advantages of all-girls education, Crofton House School fosters a strong sense of community among educators, staff, students, and families. Each individual contributes to enriching our learning environment – including you.

We are looking for a passionate full-time Associate Teacher to join our team for a one-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extending for another year. This mentorship-driven position is designed for early-career educators who are eager to evolve into full-time classroom teaching roles. This position presents an excellent chance to cultivate essential skills and experiences, thoroughly preparing educators for sustained success in their careers.

The ideal candidate will be integrated into a dynamic and innovative school community that prioritizes personal excellence, holistic child development, and overall well-being. Experience the delight of teaching within a lively kindergarten play-based program, primary classrooms that focus on emergent reading, writing, and numeracy, project-based learning, or an inquiry-driven intermediate program featuring personal iPads. Furthermore, engage with a unique middle school curriculum tailored to meet the specific developmental needs of preadolescent girls as they prepare for high school. This opportunity is especially fitting for educators in the initial three years of their careers.

Opportunities:

  • Build daily connections and foster a sense of belonging with students and colleagues in a thriving school community
  • Teach across a range of classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 7
  • Support student learning through both small group and individualized instruction
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of professionals who exemplify the school’s values of courage, creativity, and citizenship
  • Engage in a stimulating professional development network
  • Assume leadership roles in co-curricular activities

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Teacher on Call (TOC) coverage for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 7, including specialist subjects like French, Art, PE, and Music as needed
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to assist in curriculum planning, differentiated instruction, and assessment
  • Deliver personalized instruction and learning support to individual students
  • Supervise students during non-instructional periods
  • Participate in co-curricular activities and clubs each term, including choir, debating, cooking, public speaking, coding, and musical theatre
  • Engage in field trips, outdoor education, service projects, leadership development, and athletics

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management capabilities
  • A dedication to educating the whole child
  • A collaborative, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach
