Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement departmental policies and practices that align with the school's vision, objectives, commitment to high achievement standards, and effective teaching and learning methodologies.
  • Create, manage, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term development plans for the department.
  • Efficiently utilize data to identify students who may be underperforming; formulate and execute strategies to support these learners.
  • Analyze and interpret pertinent school data to inform departmental policies and contribute to the school’s SEF documentation.
  • Ensure the creation, implementation, and ongoing assessment of suitable schemes of work for all year groups and courses, including adequate provisions for SEN/POD, G&T, and EAL students.
  • Guarantee curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students within the department, including those with high abilities and those with special educational needs.
  • Set clear expectations for staff regarding achievement standards, quality of teaching, and behavior.
  • Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the department to identify successful practices and areas for improvement, implementing steps to enhance teaching and learning quality.
  • Ensure the department actively contributes to the school's CAS Programme and offers after-school Booster/Revision Sessions for I/GCSE and IB DP courses.
  • Manage team performance in accordance with the school’s performance management policy.
  • Effectively and efficiently optimize the deployment of staff and resources.
  • Maintain effective management of the Department's Resource and CapEx budgets.
  • Utilize accommodation effectively to create a stimulating teaching and learning environment in alignment with the Learning Environment Policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant subject along with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

Minimum Experience:

  • A minimum of 6 years of teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with the UK curriculum is essential.
