Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Instruction
•
Craft and execute an engaging Chinese language curriculum that aligns with American and Common Core standards, as well as SJA Jeju's inquiry-based learning model.
•
Employ project-based and inquiry-based learning methods to stimulate critical thinking and cultural comprehension.
Language Proficiency
•
Enhance students' speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities in Mandarin Chinese.
•
Adopt effective teaching strategies tailored to accommodate students with varying language skills, ranging from beginners to native speakers.
Cultural Integration
•
Embed elements of Chinese culture, history, and contemporary issues into lessons to deliver a well-rounded language learning experience.
•
Coordinate and partake in cultural events and activities that promote the Chinese language and culture within the school community.
Assessment and Differentiation
•
Consistently evaluate student progress with a variety of formative and summative assessment techniques.
•
Tailor instruction to address the diverse learning needs of all students, including those from different linguistic backgrounds.
Collaboration and Professional Development
•
Collaborate closely with fellow language educators and faculty to improve curriculum development and enhance student achievement.
•
Participate in continuous professional growth to remain updated on effective language teaching practices.
Parent Communication
•
Keep open communication with parents regarding student progress and offer advice on how they can support language learning at home.
Qualifications
•
Bachelor's degree in Chinese Language, Education, or a related area (Master's degree preferred).
•
Possession of a valid teaching certification for Chinese language instruction.
•
Native or near-native proficiency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
•
Experience teaching Chinese in an international school, especially with a diverse student population.
•
Understanding of inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies.
•
Excellent intercultural communication skills and a global perspective.
•
