About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1. To instruct students in the English department, focusing on A Level and IGCSE English courses.
2. All faculty members are expected to contribute to co-curricular activities and pastoral care, which includes supervising boarders during homework sessions, typically once every three weeks. This role also involves serving as a Pastoral Tutor for the Senior School.
3. To maintain assessment records and draft reports, ensuring effective communication with parents as necessary.
4. To be available to support recruitment and marketing initiatives as needed.
5. To prioritize the well-being of students at all times:
- Be an active member of one of the School’s Houses and participate in associated activities.
- Adhere to the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Communicate with the Senior Leadership Team and parents as required.
- Fulfill evening boarding supervision duties responsibly and in alignment with the School’s policies (usually once every two or three weeks).
6. To actively engage in the School’s co-curricular offerings through activities and clubs, including:
- sports
- arts
- academic enrichment
- outdoor activities
7. To undertake additional relevant responsibilities as assigned by the School’s Leadership Team, such as:
- collaborating with marketing and admissions efforts
- participating in staff meetings and professional development sessions
- attending all-school events like Foundation Day
- serving on school committees
8. To execute any other related and reasonable tasks as directed by the School’s Leadership Team.

Personal Requirements and Characteristics

Candidates should:
• possess an English degree
• hold a teaching qualification along with relevant teaching experience
• be an enthusiastic educator
• demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
• be capable of collaborating effectively in a team
• exhibit organizational and efficiency skills
• show willingness to engage in broader school activities
• be an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a high level of English proficiency
• have a passion for reading
• be compassionate and supportive of students’ emotional and developmental needs.
