Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver stimulating lessons that inspire students to excel and achieve their best.
  • Duties include:
    • Effectively collaborating within a team.
    • Communicating proficiently at all levels.
    • Fostering positive relationships throughout the school community.
    • Partnering with fellow educators to create engaging lessons that meet curriculum standards.
    • Coordinating with colleagues while demonstrating adaptability.
    • Working alongside parents to enhance the happiness and academic achievement of every child.
    • Collaborating with curriculum support staff (when applicable) to promote children's development.

Teaching and Learning:

  • Comprehensive understanding of the curriculum.
  • Organizing classroom resources and displays to create an engaging learning environment.
  • Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons tailored to the diverse abilities within the classroom.
  • Motivating students through enthusiastic and innovative teaching approaches.
  • Conducting student observations and assessments in accordance with school standards.
  • Reflecting on classroom practices, lessons delivered, and student progress, making necessary adjustments to the learning environment, planning, and curriculum.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists, as needed.
  • Ensuring that the Virginia International Private School Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes are embedded throughout the curriculum.

Assessment and Data:

  • Taking responsibility for the progress of a class.
  • Meeting requirements for assessing and recording student development using Target Tracker.
  • Utilizing assessment data to inform future planning, provisions, and interventions.
  • Providing feedback to parents and caregivers regarding student progress during Parent Teacher Conferences and other meetings.

Behavior Management and Duties:

  • Adhering to the school's behavior policy.
  • Effectively managing classes with tailored strategies to inspire, motivate, and challenge learners.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with students, exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively within the behavioral policy framework.
  • Serving as a positive role model and consistently demonstrating the attitudes, values, and behaviors expected of students.
  • Upholding high expectations for behavior, encouraging self-regulation and independence among all learners.
  • Performing duties as directed in line with the school's policies.

Wider Professional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating as part of a curriculum action group to support planning, assessment, resource development, and special events related to that team.
  • Assisting in organizing and participating in school events, outings, and activities, which may take place.
