Job Overview: Founded in 2015, Anne Hill International provides international education for children aged 2-13 and is preparing to expand with the upcoming launch of a secondary school campus. Our mission is to deliver accessible, high-quality international education, while our vision aims to foster well-rounded, globally minded, lifelong learners.

Currently, our institution serves approximately 350 students from 30 different nations, supported by a dedicated team of 30 teachers who also represent a variety of backgrounds.

The new secondary school campus is set to open in August 2026, introducing a curriculum based on the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) and Cambridge Lower Secondary, which will lead to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE). We take pride in being members of the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Role Responsibilities

We are on the lookout for a Teacher of Spanish (Years 7 through 10) who can effectively contribute to and advance our developing program. While experience with the Cambridge Lower Secondary and IGCSE frameworks is desirable, it is not a strict requirement.

Additionally, the ability to teach a second subject, such as English as a Second Language or a humanities/social studies area, would be beneficial.

All teachers are expected to partake in the pastoral/homeroom curriculum and engage in extracurricular activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Subject Teachers hold the responsibility for the academic growth and pastoral care of their students, in alignment with the school's Guiding Statements, curriculum, and policies.

1. Establish high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
- Create a positive, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere that encourages risk-taking in learning and builds student confidence.
- Design lessons with clear objectives that foster active participation, independence, collaboration, and interdisciplinary connections.
- Maintain consistent high expectations through strong relationships and inclusive practices.

2. Support continuous progress and outcomes for all students.
- Understand students' backgrounds to tailor learning experiences, guiding their progress through curriculum sequencing and building on prior knowledge.
- Promote student reflection, responsibility, and a conscientious approach to independent study.

3. Demonstrate strong subject and curriculum knowledge.
- Develop learning experiences that reinforce knowledge, ignite interest, and challenge students.
- Continuously enhance professional knowledge through ongoing professional development, applying this expertise to classroom practices with a focus on literacy, numeracy, and scholarship.

4. Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons.
- Create and implement purposeful lessons that cater to diverse student needs, setting clear objectives, providing constructive feedback, and employing evidence-based strategies to promote progress.
- Build positive relationships within the classroom and collaborate with colleagues to adopt a unified, student-centered approach that supports both learning and wellbeing.

5. Adapt teaching to meet student strengths and needs.
- Work with students to set clear, meaningful goals and modify lessons to address individual needs through various strategies such as differentiation, questioning, active learning, and technology.
- Use assessment, feedback, and reflection to inform teaching practices, promote progress, and foster an inclusive environment where all students feel valued and challenged.

6. Utilize assessment effectively and productively.
- Systematically evaluate student learning through diverse methods, providing clear feedback that facilitates improvement and advancement.
- Consistently use assessment data to inform instructional practices, guiding planning, and ensuring all students reach their full potential.

7. Ensure the quality of educational provision.
- Communicate effectively with parents, offering clear feedback and guidance.
- Prepare and utilize resources that align with student needs while engaging support staff in planning and instruction.
- Manage time efficiently and conduct academic reporting meticulously through updates, reports, and parent meetings to accurately reflect student progress.

Qualifications and Experience

- A degree in a relevant subject area from a university/college is preferred.
- A PGCE or equivalent certification is required.
- Ideally, candidates should possess three years of relevant experience (though this is not essential).
- A proven track record of supporting students from diverse cultural backgrounds and those with additional needs (e.g., English as an Additional Language and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) is preferred.
