About This Role

- Implement the necessary curriculum while demonstrating comprehensive and current knowledge of the subject matter.
- Design and conduct engaging lessons that inspire students, creating and using suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide written documentation of your planning and preparation upon request. Keep detailed records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment frameworks, and more.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
- Instruct assigned students according to their unique needs, employing teaching strategies that cater to diverse abilities, such as late entrants, ESL learners, students with lower academic performance, and those who are gifted and talented.
- Assign and evaluate student work. Track, assess, and report on the academic growth, progress, and achievements of students, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual student needs.
- Exhibit proficiency in utilizing media and technology within the classroom.
- Support the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external parties when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
- Engage in performance appraisal and management processes and partake in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral care arrangements.
- Participate in, and take the lead in, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at the school. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
- Oversee and ensure student behavior is safe and appropriate. Develop and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and address disruptive behavior.
- Model and promote cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.
- Assist in planning and organizing school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.
- Regularly communicate with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them informed about their children’s progress while maintaining confidentiality of student-related information.
- Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond regular working hours when tasks require extra dedication.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by immediate and indirect supervisors.
