About This Role
4.1 Quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA)
- Ensure that the standard of TLA consistently progresses towards an Outstanding rating throughout the school.
- Guarantee that high-quality assessments contribute to enhancements in teaching and learning, ultimately resulting in better student outcomes.
4.2 Quality Assurance
- Establish effective self-evaluation and Quality Assurance (QA) systems across the institution.
- Supervise the preparation of all sections of the Self Evaluation Form (SEF) related to TLA.
- Develop improvement plans based on both internal and external evaluations concerning the quality of TLA.
- Provide reports to the Senior Team and Local Advisory Board (LAB) about the quality of TLA and the execution of improvement strategies.
4.3 Staff Development
- Address areas for development identified by QA systems through relevant staff training initiatives.
- Lead the induction program for newly recruited teachers.
4.4 Student Outcomes
- Ensure that high-quality TLA results in improved student outcomes, including academic success and the development of essential skills and attributes.
- Direct the examinations and data teams to create efficient systems that promote enhanced academic results.
- Report to the Senior Team and LAB on student progress across all Key Stages and take necessary actions for improvement when required.
- Offer appropriate advice and guidance to students during their board examination periods.
- Ensure that examinations and assessments are conducted smoothly for all students.
4.5 Policies and Procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in a core subject.
- Qualified Teacher Status.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a subject Head of Department or in a leadership role focusing on teaching, learning, and assessments within a multicultural school setting.
Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of the National Curriculum for England.
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Proven capacity to take initiative, think strategically, and actively solve problems.
- Ability to adapt and implement new policies and procedures.
- Effective communication skills complemented by strong leadership capabilities.
- Innovative thinking with the ability to approach problems laterally and provide decisive solutions.
- Energetic, enthusiastic, and resilient, with the capability to perform well under pressure and manage time effectively.
