Grade 1 Class Teacher (Maternity Leave)
The Vancouver Waldorf School, located in North Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a Grade 1 Class Teacher to fill a temporary position covering maternity leave. The role is set to commence in April 2024. We are looking for a candidate who demonstrates a deep passion for Waldorf education and can inspire a love of learning in children. The successful individual will manage a classroom of up to 30 students and will need to exhibit strong organizational and classroom management skills. Key attributes include effective communication and interpersonal abilities, along with a talent for collaborating successfully across different departments.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing lesson plans and preparing the classroom environment
- Delivering the main lesson effectively
- Conducting track classes
- Composing student reports
Additional responsibilities will encompass:
- Attending faculty meetings
- Acting as a liaison for parents within the school community
- Organizing parent evenings
- Engaging in all school events and faculty meetings
- Providing substitute teaching in other classrooms when necessary
Education and Skill Requirements:
- BC Teacher Certification or eligibility for certification
- Ideally, a minimum of five years of experience in Waldorf Class Teaching
- Waldorf Training Certificate or a willingness to begin training within two years of employment
- Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English

Salary: $45,150 to $66,137/year, prorated to FTE based on experience and qualifications
