About This Role

Educational Psychologist - Contractor Expression of Interest

The Meadow Lake Tribal Council invites contractors to submit an “Expression of Interest” for the role of Educational Psychologist within the Office of Education. The selected Educational Psychologist will work closely with the MLTC Student Services team. The MLTC Education department provides Second Level services to the nine schools situated in the Meadow Lake First Nations area, which serves Treaty 10 and 6 territories, including Cree and Dene communities. The services offered encompass consultations in areas such as language, land, relationships and culture, literacy and numeracy, wellness, and student support services (including OT, SLP, and educational psychology), curriculum, technology, and early learning. While the Educational Psychology services are primarily referral-based, the psychologist will also participate in professional development initiatives for school staff as needed and collaborate with early learning and other departments.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments and offer program recommendations for students referred due to academic and/or behavioral issues.
  • Create written reports for all students referred for services and distribute these reports according to established protocols.
  • Keep current, confidential files for each child receiving services.
  • Provide consultations to parents, administrators, teachers, and support staff regarding assessment recommendations.
  • Work together with parents, administrators, and external agencies to address children's needs.
  • Act as an in-service resource for teachers in relevant areas as required and approved.
  • Promote open communication with parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Assist in the identification of designated students.
  • Recommend suitable materials for schools and parents based on assessed needs.
  • Follow up on recommendations made and provide additional support as required, including professional development in areas such as Differentiated Instruction, classroom management, and Educational Assistant Planning.
  • Help administrators and teachers understand reports from other agencies upon request.
  • Counsel the Superintendent of Education on potential modifications to the delivery of Educational Psychology services.
  • Support school personnel in developing behavior management plans for students when needed.
  • Attend authorized in-service and professional development sessions as instructed by the Director or Superintendent of Education.
  • Contribute to MLTC Office of Education initiatives and perform other assigned responsibilities.

Required Education, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Specialized training in assessment practices for students with special needs.
  • Valid Teacher's Certificate.
  • Master's Degree in Psychology or Educational Psychology.
  • Registration with the College of Psychologists.
  • License from the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists.
  • Willingness to travel extensively to First Nation Communities, including potential overnight stays; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, decision-making abilities, professional judgment, and organizational/time-management skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
