About This Role
The Primary Assistant Headteacher plays a vital role within the Primary Senior Leadership Team, aiding in the strategic, operational, and academic direction of the Primary phase. This position assists the Headteacher in maintaining high standards in teaching, learning, behavior, wellbeing, and student outcomes. The Assistant Headteacher is expected to provide clear and consistent leadership throughout the school, significantly contributing to ongoing improvement efforts.
Strategic Leadership
•
Assist the Headteacher in realizing the school’s vision, values, and strategic goals.
•
Participate in comprehensive school self-evaluation and planning for improvement.
•
Exemplify high professional standards and foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and accountability.
Teaching, Learning, and Standards
•
Evaluate the quality of teaching and learning through classroom observations, learning walks, book reviews, and data analysis.
•
Aid Key Stage Leaders, Year Leaders, and Subject Leaders in promoting progress and enhancing student achievement.
•
Utilize assessment data to pinpoint trends, strengths, and areas needing attention.
•
Encourage uniformity in planning, feedback, and classroom practices across the Primary phase.
Pastoral Care, Behavior, and Safeguarding
•
Promote high behavioral standards and positive conduct among students throughout the school.
•
Collaborate with pastoral leaders to prioritize student wellbeing and inclusivity.
•
Adhere to safeguarding protocols and contribute to fostering a robust safeguarding culture.
•
Engage with parents professionally to address concerns with a solution-oriented approach.
Operational Leadership
•
Facilitate the efficient day-to-day operation of the Primary school.
•
Manage essential operational systems as assigned by the Headteacher.
•
Assist in timetable creation, event coordination, and school routines.
•
Ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
Staff Development and Performance
•
Supervise designated middle leaders or teaching staff.
•
Contribute to performance appraisal and management processes.
•
Offer coaching, mentoring, and support for professional development.
•
Encourage collaboration and professional dialogue within teams.
Parental and Community Engagement
•
Foster strong communication with parents to cultivate constructive partnerships.
•
Represent the school at various meetings, events, and community engagements.
•
Support initiatives that enhance student leadership, self-confidence, and participation in co-curricular activities.
