About This Role

The School

Deira International School (DIS) is an award-winning educational institution recognized as Outstanding by BSO and KHDA, situated on a stunning campus in Festival City, Dubai. In 2023, DIS received the Education Excellence Award for ‘School Team of the Year’ and is a Platinum Award holder for ‘Best Place to Work’, showcasing our strong dedication to staff wellbeing and a vibrant school community.

Catering to students aged 3–18, DIS operates as a not-for-profit institution under the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation. Established in 2005, the school is celebrated for delivering an exceptional, inclusive, and comprehensive educational experience. Our latest inspection noted several key strengths:

Staff express overwhelming pride in the school, recognizing its effective leadership, safety, and inclusivity.

The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment throughout the school is exceptional.

Teachers maintain high expectations and consistently encourage students to excel.

Staff members feel respected, valued, and treated equitably.

The curriculum is meticulously crafted, well-structured, and effectively builds on prior knowledge.

There is a strong emphasis on academic progress and success.

DIS boasts a rich tapestry of diversity, with students from over 90 nationalities, which is integral to our community spirit. Our outstanding facilities foster a holistic educational approach, offering extensive opportunities in sports, performing arts, technology, leadership, creativity, and academic enrichment.

While admissions are non-selective, our students consistently achieve remarkable examination results, rivaling those of leading UK schools, and often proceed to prestigious universities around the globe. Digital literacy is woven throughout the curriculum as we equip students for the challenges of an evolving world.

In the Early Years, our tailored, play-based continuous provision rigorously assesses students against the EYFS framework, laying a solid foundation for future academic pursuits. Primary students enjoy a broad, enriching curriculum that includes various non-core subjects. In Secondary, students undertake IGCSEs in Year 11 before advancing to the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) or IB Career-related Programme (IBCP) in Years 12 and 13.

DIS operates under the governance of the Al-Futtaim Education Foundation (AFEF), a not-for-profit initiative from the Al-Futtaim family, aligned with the vision of the Government of Dubai and KHDA to provide future-ready education while maximizing social impact.
