About This Role

The Post

The British School of Ulaanbaatar is on the lookout for a dedicated, energetic, and highly qualified Primary School teacher, focusing on either Key Stage One or Key Stage Two. This position offers an initial contract spanning two academic years, from August 2026 to July 2028, with the potential for renewal thereafter.

A comprehensive job description accompanies this advertisement.

Ideal candidates will possess:

A UK-accredited teaching qualification, such as B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE, or a comparable certification (a PGCE/PGDE must be paired with a relevant Bachelor’s degree).

Experience teaching in the UK or internationally.

Outstanding expertise in their subject area.

A demonstrated history of delivering exceptional teaching and learning experiences.

Prior training in the National Curriculum of England and Wales is a requirement, and experience in UK or international schools following a British-style curriculum is highly advantageous. We seek professional, adaptable, and innovative educators with cultural sensitivity and a spirit of adventure.

Alongside teaching responsibilities associated with this role, BSU promotes a vibrant extra-curricular activity program, and all teachers are encouraged to engage actively. We particularly welcome candidates eager to be involved in the Ulaanbaatar community and beyond.

The academic calendar runs from mid-August to mid-June, as outlined in the attached 2026/27 academic calendar.

How to apply

To apply for this role, please provide the following:

A completed Schrole online application form, including full details of your qualifications, professional training, and previous employment, alongside a letter of application expressing your interest in and suitability for the position, highlighting any relevant skills and attributes.

Contact information for at least two referees, one of whom must be your current or most recent employer (Head of School/Principal or Chair of the Governing Body).

All required documents should be submitted via the Schrole portal. The application deadline is Friday, 3rd April 2026. Early applications are encouraged, as interviews will be conducted online as soon as possible. The School reserves the right to appoint candidates prior to the deadline. The recruitment process will be conducted online, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

The British School of Ulaanbaatar is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, requiring all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment. Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and Whistleblowing Policy are included in this advertisement, and we advise all interested candidates to review them before applying.

Candidates who advance through the interview process should expect to undergo comprehensive background and reference checks, as well as provide personal and medical information required for entry into Mongolia. Referees will be asked to confirm that candidates are not currently involved in any safeguarding or disciplinary investigations and are not aware of any issues that would prevent them from working with children. Applicants from the U.K. will need to complete a vetting and barring check before arriving in Mongolia, and equivalent checks will apply to individuals from other countries. Additionally, all applicants must provide certificates of good conduct from any countries where they have previously lived or worked. It is essential that candidates understand that any past criminal activity or convictions on their record will disqualify them from employment at BSU and residency in Mongolia.
