About This Role

Job Purpose
The Whole School Curriculum Coordinator plays a vital role in offering both strategic and operational guidance in the design, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of the curriculum throughout all school divisions. This position ensures the curriculum aligns with international best practices, NEASC accreditation criteria, American educational frameworks, and the requirements of the Advanced Placement (AP) program.

In support of the school's mission, the Coordinator fosters high academic standards, prioritizes student-centered learning, promotes college readiness, and encourages a culture of ongoing improvement. This role collaborates closely with school leadership, faculty, and academic departments to maintain curriculum coherence, uphold academic rigor, and ensure alignment with American educational standards.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Curriculum Leadership

Steer the development, execution, and continuous assessment of the whole-school curriculum framework in accordance with NEASC standards and best practices in American education.


Ensure both vertical alignment across different grade levels and horizontal alignment across various subject areas.


Facilitate the integration and alignment of Advanced Placement (AP) courses with expectations set by the School Board.


Encourage alignment between curriculum, instruction, assessment, and overall school learning outcomes.


Work alongside divisional leaders to guarantee curriculum consistency and progression from Early Childhood through to High School.

American Curriculum and AP Program Development

Supervise curriculum mapping to confirm alignment with American academic standards and college readiness benchmarks.


Assist AP teachers with curriculum planning, pacing, and implementation as per the School Board’s course frameworks.


Monitor the quality and rigor of AP courses to ensure compliance with the requirements of the School Board program.


Coordinate the implementation of the AP program, providing support for audit processes, course authorization, and program reviews.


Encourage advanced academic pathways, ensuring students are well-prepared for AP coursework.

Teaching and Learning Excellence

Aid faculty and academic leaders in creating standards-based instructional planning and delivery.


Encourage student-centered, differentiated, and inquiry-driven teaching methods.


Provide instructional coaching and facilitate professional development that aligns with school improvement goals and accreditation requirements.


Promote the incorporation of 21st-century skills, critical thinking, research abilities, and academic writing across all subject areas.


Support effective integration of educational technology in teaching and learning practices.

Assessment, Data, and Continuous Improvement

Oversee assessments based on standards that align with American curriculum expectations and AP assessment standards.


Assist faculty in designing high-quality formative and summative assessments that evaluate student mastery and growth.


Analyze both internal and external assessment data (including AP results, standardized tests, and internal benchmarks) to assess curriculum effectiveness.


Guide faculty in employing data-driven strategies to enhance student achievement and academic outcomes.

Accreditation and Compliance

Lead and support curriculum alignment with NEASC accreditation standards, particularly in areas related to teaching and learning, student assessments, and program effectiveness.


Maintain thorough documentation of the curriculum, including scope and sequence, curriculum maps, and assessment frameworks.


Support NEASC self-study processes, accreditation visits, action planning, and continuous improvement initiatives within the school.


Ensure adherence to accreditation requirements, school policies, and international education standards.

Collaboration and Professional Learning Culture

Facilitate collaborative planning and curriculum articulation meetings across divisions and departments.


Work closely with department heads, coordinators, and school leadership to implement curriculum initiatives and academic improvement strategies.


Support the onboarding and mentoring of new teachers regarding curriculum standards, AP expectations, and instructional practices.


Encourage the establishment of professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on reflective teaching practices and ongoing improvement.

Job Requirement:
Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field (Master’s Degree in Curriculum, Educational Leadership, or a similar field is preferred).


A valid teaching certification or an equivalent international qualification.


At least 4 years of teaching experience in an American or international school setting.


Proven experience in curriculum leadership, coordination, or academic leadership roles.


Thorough understanding of NEASC accreditation standards and processes for continuous school improvement.


Experience with Advanced Placement (AP) programs and College Board course frameworks is highly desirable.


Solid knowledge of standards-based curriculum development and assessment strategies.
