About This Role
Established in 2000, Doha Academy encompasses three schools and provides a KG-13 educational experience based on the British curriculum and the Qatar national curriculum. The Academy’s mission is to cultivate lifelong learners who are outward-looking, supported by a wide-ranging educational framework rooted in local cultural values and traditions.
Doha Academy is a forward-thinking organization, overseen by Al Faleh Educational Holding, which includes AFG College in partnership with the University of Aberdeen. Employees at Doha Academy can expect excellent opportunities for career advancement, especially those who are ambitious, progressive, and prioritize student-centered decision-making.
As the organization continues to grow, we are eager to connect with qualified and experienced educators for whom teaching is a calling. In addition to holding a Bachelor’s degree in your teaching subject, candidates should have a recognized initial teacher training qualification. We highly encourage early applications.
The school holds accreditation from both Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel. All three sciences follow the Pearson Edexcel curriculum at KS4 and KS5. Our 2024 GCSE results were particularly impressive, with outstanding grades of 7-9 across both science subjects. We boast state-of-the-art laboratories and employ laboratory assistants as part of our team.
This position offers the opportunity for leadership within the department, so if you aspire to be a head of department, please highlight this in your application.
This is an exciting period to become part of the Academy. Earlier in 2022, we received full Qatar National Schools’ Accreditation (QNSA), and in November 2022, we were granted full international accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). We are currently on our highest “ACE Learning” pathway.
Interviews will be conducted either in person in Doha or online for candidates located internationally.
The school is dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to uphold this commitment.
Our compensation package includes:
- A competitive, tax-free salary
- Annual return flight to your home country
- Free bus transportation to and from school
- Fully furnished shared two-bedroom apartment with a communal lounge and kitchen, along with on-site security
- Medical coverage (Hamad Health Card)
- End-of-service gratuity
We welcome applications from married teaching couples. While we do hire Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs or ECTs), please note that we do not currently offer the ECT support program.
Ideal candidates will be:
- Enthusiastic about their subject and its effective teaching methods
- Committed to addressing the needs of all students
- Adaptable to life in a foreign country and resilient
- Positive collaborators within a team
- Culturally respectful and sensitive
- Dedicated to their professional growth
