About This Role
We are Hiring! For a Maternity Cover, Primary School Teacher, 2-2.5 days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, (and Thurs Mornings)) to cover until April/May 2027 with possibility of extension.Regius is an independent Christian school serving around 35 primary‑aged children (P1-S2), located near Edinburgh’s Newcraighall station. Established in 1986, the school’s vision is to provide “Christian Education to Transform a Generation.” With small class sizes, pupils are able to learn at a pace that suits them, and their unique gifts and abilities are recognised, nurtured, and developed within a caring and inspiring environment.Our close‑knit team of professional Christian educators work collaboratively to ensure every child is supported educationally, physically, and spiritually. Alongside a strong commitment to academic excellence, Regius places high value on worship, prayer, and a culture of honour that underpins all aspects of school life.We are seeking an enthusiastic part‑time class teacher to join our Christian school community on a maternity‑cover basis. This fixed‑term role ensures continuity of learning and supports the class throughout the duration of the maternity leave.Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to high‑quality teaching, a flexible approach, and a willingness to uphold the school’s Christian ethos.Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, age‑appropriate lessons across a range of subjects, following school plans, curriculum guidelines, and the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence.
- Prepare for teaching assigned classes and complete associated marking, recording, assessment, and reporting on pupil’s progress
- Maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment rooted in Christian values, promoting pupils’ social, emotional, spiritual, and academic development.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively and provide guidance to pupils on learning, personal development, and well‑being.
- Adapt quickly to different classes, year groups, and learning needs, ensuring continuity of learning and smooth transitions
- Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and other professionals, promoting safeguarding, pupil welfare, and high standards of teaching and learning.
- Contribute to the wider life and good order of the school, including participation in school planning, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.
