- Provide the designated curriculum with a thorough and current understanding of both curriculum and subject material.
- Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and employ suitable resources and create a classroom atmosphere that accommodates various learning styles.
- Present written documentation of planning and preparation upon request. Keep organized records of curriculum outlines, yearly plans, attendance, teaching materials, assessment strategies, and more.
- Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Instruct assigned students according to their specific needs, utilizing effective teaching strategies that cater to diverse student backgrounds, including late arrivals, ESL learners, students with lower academic abilities, as well as those who are gifted and talented.
- Assign and evaluate work. Assess, document, and report on the academic growth, progress, and achievements of students, using evaluations to tailor the curriculum to individual student requirements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in integrating media and technology into classroom instruction.
- Support the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational issues.
- Engage with external parties when necessary, including officials from the Ministry of Education.
- Participate in performance evaluations and professional development activities, including Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues to prepare and develop teaching materials, resources, course content, and pastoral care arrangements.
- Engage in co-curricular and extra-curricular programs within the school, providing leadership and sharing ideas, materials, and experiences to foster positive working relationships.
- Oversee and promote safe and appropriate student behavior. Develop and execute strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive actions.
- Align with the school's ethos, vision, and mission.
- Ensure a safe learning environment for all students.
- Encourage cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.
- Assist in the organization and planning of school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days.
- Maintain regular communication with parents, advocating for the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents updated on their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information.
- Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond standard working hours when additional commitment is necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as required.
