Job Title: Vice Principal (Primary)

Location: St. Ignatius Catholic School, George Town, Cayman Islands

Start Date: August 2026

About Us: St. Ignatius Catholic School is a private, co-educational establishment operated by St. Ignatius Catholic Church as part of its Apostolic Ministry. The school enjoys a strong reputation within the community, serving over 750 students and employing nearly 100 staff members from various nationalities, cultures, and beliefs. We take pride in our commitment to academic excellence and strong Christian values. Following the English National Curriculum from Nursery through Year 13, we cultivate an atmosphere of respect, generosity, and service. A recent inspection by both local and international evaluators in November 2024 deemed St. Ignatius Catholic School to be ‘Excellent’ according to the Cayman Islands Office of Education Standards.

Position Overview: The Vice Principal (Primary) serves as the strategic and educational leader of the Primary School (Nursery to Year 6), akin to a Head of Primary position. This role encompasses oversight of educational standards, staff leadership, and the continuous enhancement of high-quality teaching, learning, and pastoral care within a Catholic educational framework. We are in search of a dedicated Catholic leader with profound knowledge of child pedagogy and extensive experience in guiding teams of primary educators. The selected individual will be tasked with the effective management of the Primary School, covering Nursery through Year 6.

The Vice Principal of Primary will be an active Catholic who embodies Christ-centered values and beliefs. This leader will exemplify and promote the Catholic ethos of the school through vision, relationships, and daily practices, ensuring a seamless integration of faith and learning across all school areas. We seek an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated professional with outstanding communication capabilities, who will play a vital role in the effective operation and ongoing growth of the primary school. Close collaboration with the Pastor, Principal, and other senior leaders in both primary and secondary education will be essential for the continuous improvement of the Primary School and the broader institution, reinforcing the school’s identity and values while placing academic excellence and faith-driven principles at the forefront. This includes building on the school’s existing strengths and addressing areas for development identified in the latest inspection report to align with the vision for sustained excellence.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Leadership and management qualifications and/or relevant advanced degree, with at least 15 years of experience in primary education, including over 10 years in a senior leadership role within a Catholic school.

• Familiarity and experience in teaching the UK National Curriculum and collaborating with Years N to 6 in curriculum development.
• Strong understanding of current educational trends.
• Up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection practices.

Key Leadership Priorities and Responsibilities in Primary:
· Direct the strategic vision and daily operations of the EYFS/Primary School.
