About BASIS International School Shenzhen
Established in 2015, BASIS International School Shenzhen was the inaugural school in our network. Originally housed in a renovated facility, the school moved in 2023 to a beautiful new campus designed to accommodate over 1,600 students from Pre-K to Grade 12, featuring state-of-the-art facilities for the performing and visual arts, athletics, and sciences, along with lovely outdoor areas and gardens. The Vice Head of Division – High School plays a crucial role in the Senior Leadership Team, working closely with school administrators and reporting directly to the Head of School. This position focuses on developing secondary education programs, guiding student development, managing student behavior, and facilitating social integration.
The Vice Head of Division will directly supervise Teachers, Teaching Fellows, and the Dean of Secondary School (if applicable).
Responsibilities:
- Supervise secondary school academic programs that support students facing social integration challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
- Create protocols for addressing serious behavioral incidents.
- Oversee communication with parents.
- Manage parental expectations.
- Encourage the social-emotional development of students.
- Enforce School Routines and the Code of Conduct.
- Support teachers in managing student behavior.
- Collaborate with parents regarding student behavior concerns as necessary.
- Maintain records of student discipline.
- Collaborate with the Director of Student Affairs and Director of Academic Programs to coordinate academic support initiatives.
- Assist teachers with parental communication on various issues.
- Cultivate a supportive and achievement-oriented school culture (setting behavior standards, managing social-emotional curricula and character programs, etc.).
- Establish routines for common areas of the school (recess, lunch, hallways, Early Bird/Late Bird).
- Provide guidance and support to Teaching Fellows.
- Oversee student arrival and dismissal processes.
What We're Seeking
- A Bachelor's degree in Education, Secondary Education, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in a high school environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in administrative roles.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities (both verbal and written).
