We currently have openings for Teaching Assistants (TAs) to begin immediately, working with children aged 3-11 years. The TA's role involves supporting the Teacher in various learning activities, embodying and promoting the standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values. Responsibilities include assisting the teacher with reading activities, conducting small group sessions both inside and outside the classroom as directed, and preparing and organizing classroom materials.
TAs will also be responsible for creating and maintaining classroom displays, photocopying documents, and preparing worksheets as needed. In case of emergencies, TAs may cover classes for short periods. Additional tasks include organizing stock cupboards, distributing new supplies, and attending to students' needs such as escorting them to the restroom and providing assistance with changing and cleaning when necessary.
Familiarity with the curriculum, including literacy, numeracy, and phonetics, is essential. Adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct is mandatory at all times. TAs are expected to show initiative and dedication beyond the standard work hours when necessary. Participation in staff meetings and serving on committees as required is also part of the role.
Confidentiality, discretion, and tact in handling sensitive information regarding students and the school are critical. TAs will perform additional duties as requested by their direct and dotted line managers or supervisors. This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday (7:15 am - 2:45 pm from Monday to Thursday and 7:15 am - 11:30 am on Friday), and is available during term time only.
