About This Role
Teacher of Mathematics – South Island School (Full-Time Starting August 2026)
South Island School seeks an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics, responsible for teaching a combination of IBDP, IGCSE, and MYP curricula. While prior experience with these educational frameworks is advantageous, it is not essential for applicants who exhibit the necessary skills.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional teaching capabilities, with a flair for inspiring, motivating, and engaging students through innovative and creative approaches inside and outside the classroom. The goal is to achieve remarkable educational outcomes for all learners.
In addition, the chosen candidate will take on the role of a pastoral tutor and actively participate in the school’s lively extracurricular programs. This is a full-time, renewable position for an initial period of one year commencing in August 2026. Support for obtaining residency in Hong Kong will be provided if required.
The Role
At SIS, teachers are expected to be committed and flexible. Key responsibilities include:
- Crafting lessons tailored to the distinct learning needs of each student and ensuring positive outcomes, in accordance with our Schemes of Learning;
- Employing a variety of effective strategies for positive classroom management, utilizing flexible groupings and structured inquiry, in line with the IBO philosophy;
- Enriching the educational environment with a diverse selection of thoughtfully chosen resources, including digital technologies;
- Establishing and maintaining an organized and engaging learning space;
- Assessing students against established learning outcomes;
- Providing clear and constructive feedback to both students and their parents, following South Island School's reporting protocols;
- Collaborating closely with the Mathematics faculty on forthcoming initiatives and joint planning;
- Serving as a tutor for a group of students within the Pastoral Learning Curriculum;
- Enthusiastically participating in the Making a Difference, Values in Action, and Expanding Horizons extracurricular programs.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, or
- Bachelor’s Degree coupled with a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education), or an equivalent qualification
