The School
Established in 2012, the British School of Ulaanbaatar is recognized as one of the premier educational institutions in Central Asia, with a mission to provide students aged three to eighteen with an education that prepares them for the world, emphasizing academic excellence and personal growth through challenge. We take pride in our academic achievements and the diverse educational experiences we offer. The School adheres to the curricula set by Cambridge International, preparing students for IGCSEs and A-Levels. The vast majority of our graduates continue their education at prestigious international universities worldwide. We welcome both expatriate and Mongolian families while fostering a familial and community-oriented atmosphere. BSU is fully accredited by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) and is a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network. We are currently awaiting confirmation of our membership with the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) and the Council of International Schools (CIS).
The Location
Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia, features a modern urban landscape alongside ancient temples and traditional ger districts. The city boasts a vibrant social scene where local and expatriate communities coexist harmoniously. There are direct flights to various global centers, including Seoul, Tokyo, Frankfurt, and Istanbul, as well as access to more remote domestic locations.
Surrounded by stunning natural scenery, Ulaanbaatar offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities and unique cultural experiences. Adventurous individuals can engage in trekking, horseback riding, skiing, cycling, and camping, allowing exploration of the lakes, forests, mountains, and deserts of this beautiful country.
Mongolia's climate is characterized by extremes, yet its low humidity makes both summer and winter more manageable than one might expect. Clear blue skies often prevail due to frequent periods of high pressure, showcasing the dramatic landscapes. Air quality in Ulaanbaatar has significantly improved over the past five years due to government initiatives promoting smokeless fuels.
Terms and Conditions
The initial contract is set to commence around 11th August 2025. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience. Additional benefits include full tuition remission for dependent children at the School, medical insurance, and allowances for flights and luggage at the beginning and end of the contract. Furnished accommodation on the School campus is available and is preferred by most expatriate staff. Complete details of terms and conditions will be provided after successful interviews.
