Job Purpose

Teachers at our school play a vital role in nurturing curious and confident learners. To achieve this, educators deliver dynamic and thought-provoking lessons in Graphics and Photography that cultivate genuine interest and encourage students to explore, express creative ideas, and engage in visual storytelling. Through practical studio work, digital design tools, and exposure to contemporary creative practices, students are taught to observe their environment critically and communicate meaning through imagery. Lessons aim to expand imagination and technical skills, empowering every student to build confidence, think critically about visual culture, and develop their own creative voice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Delivery
    • Instruct Graphics and Photography across Key Stages, focusing on GCSE and A-Level.
    • Design and execute engaging lessons that challenge and support all students, incorporating real-world applications and inquiry-based methods.
    • Create and maintain schemes of work and lesson plans that align with departmental and school-wide goals.
    • Ensure lessons reflect best pedagogical practices, including effective differentiation and strategies for supporting Gifted and Talented, EAL, and SEND learners.
  • Data-Driven Student Progress and Attainment
    • Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
    • Collect and analyze assessment data to identify trends and implement necessary interventions.
    • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and effectively communicate progress to parents.
  • Classroom Practice and Standards
    • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes high expectations and mutual respect.
    • Uphold high standards of behavior and engagement through established routines and positive relationships.
    • Serve as an exemplary model of outstanding teaching and encourage a culture of academic excellence.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration
    • Actively engage in departmental meetings, contributing to shared planning, resource development, and collaborative teaching methods in Graphics and Photography.
    • Participate in professional learning opportunities to stay current with curriculum changes and best practices in Graphics and Photography education, including networking with international subject-specific communities.
    • When applicable, utilize regional professional organizations like the BSME Networks to enhance understanding of local practices and participate in broader professional discussions throughout the Middle East.
    • Support whole-school initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement, demonstrating reflective practice and a commitment to professional development.
