GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to join our Middle/High School team, with a start date of 01 August 2026. The primary responsibilities for this role include: Embracing and promoting the ethos and standards of excellence as articulated in the GEMS Core Values. Delivering the curriculum effectively, showcasing a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter. Planning and conducting engaging lessons that inspire students. Developing and utilizing suitable materials and classroom environments that accommodate various learning styles. Providing written evidence of lesson planning and preparation upon request. Maintaining comprehensive records of curriculum outlines, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, and more. Ensuring adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times. Teaching students based on their individual needs, employing suitable strategies for diverse learners, including late entrants, ESL students, those with lower academic abilities, and gifted and talented individuals. Setting, grading, and providing feedback on assignments. Assessing, documenting, and reporting on students' academic progress and achievements while tailoring the curriculum to meet individual student needs. Demonstrating proficiency in integrating media and technology into classroom instruction. Supporting the overall progress and well-being of students while offering guidance on educational matters. Engaging in communication with external stakeholders, such as Ministry of Education officials, when necessary. Participating in performance appraisals and continuing professional development (CPD). Collaborating with colleagues to prepare and develop teaching materials, resources, study courses, and pastoral arrangements. Leading and participating in co-curricular and extracurricular programs as needed. Fostering positive working relationships by actively sharing ideas, materials, and experiences. Monitoring and supervising student behavior to ensure safety and appropriateness. Planning and implementing strategies that promote self-discipline and address disruptive behavior. Modeling cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a love of learning. Assisting in the organization of school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and prize days. Regularly communicating with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed about their children's progress and maintaining confidentiality regarding student information. Demonstrating commitment by going above and beyond typical work hours when necessary. Attending staff meetings and serving on committees as required. Carrying out additional duties as assigned by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.
