About This Role

Muscat International School by Amity is on the lookout for exceptional and committed professionals for the position of Head of Inclusion.

This vital leadership role is situated within a school that aspires to uphold the highest standards of British independent education, ensuring that every student is acknowledged, supported, and motivated to achieve their best within a caring, respectful, and academically ambitious environment.

The Role

In the capacity of Head of Inclusion, you will offer both strategic and operational guidance to promote inclusive practices throughout the school, guaranteeing that all students, especially those with additional needs, can engage with a stimulating and rigorous curriculum.

The ideal candidate will lead the development of a unified and high-caliber inclusion strategy, focused on effective identification, intervention, and collaboration with staff, students, and families.

A key focus of this role is to nurture a culture where inclusion is seen not as a separate service, but as a fundamental aspect of exceptional teaching and learning.

This role includes a reduced teaching load, allowing the successful candidate to remain actively involved in classroom activities while managing this essential area.

Inclusion Vision

At Muscat International School by Amity, our philosophy of inclusion is grounded in the belief that every student can flourish within a culture of high expectations and thoughtful support. We strive to create a school environment where diversity is acknowledged, appreciated, and intentionally planned for—where teaching is adaptable, provisions are meaningful, and all learners are inspired to fully participate in school life.

Our aim is to cultivate an inclusive community marked by clarity, compassion, and academic excellence, ensuring each student receives both support and challenges to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and leading a comprehensive inclusion strategy across the school, ensuring clarity, consistency, and impact.
  • Managing the identification, assessment, and support processes for students with additional learning needs.
  • Guaranteeing compliance with relevant UK SEND and safeguarding guidelines, suitably tailored for an international context.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers to embed inclusive, high-quality practices in the classroom.
  • Leading and developing the Inclusion team, which includes learning support staff.
  • Advising and assisting colleagues on adaptive teaching, intervention techniques, and differentiation strategies.
  • Building partnerships with parents for effective communication and relationship development.
  • Coordinating with external agencies and specialists as necessary.
  • Contributing to the overall academic and pastoral leadership, ensuring that inclusion is an essential component of school development.

The Person

We seek a colleague who exemplifies professional integrity, empathy, and clear thinking, capable of leading inclusion with compassion and high expectations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have substantial experience in inclusion/SEND leadership, with a profound understanding of effective practices.
  • Demonstrate the capability to design and implement impactful whole-school systems and provisions.
  • Be a reflective practitioner, committed to evidence-based approaches.
  • Exhibit the ability to support, challenge, and develop colleagues with both confidence and sensitivity.
  • Be an outstanding communicator, skilled at engaging with students, staff, and parents.
  • Show a strong commitment to ensuring all students receive appropriate support and challenges.
  • Be an effective classroom teacher, dedicated to delivering high-quality instruction.
