Director of Secondary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the central team at King’s Group Academies as our Director of Secondary and play a pivotal role in shaping educational excellence across our secondary academies.

Working closely with the Deputy CEO (Education) and Director of Primary, you will provide strategic leadership, guidance and challenge to our secondary academy leaders, with responsibility for driving continuous improvement and ensuring the best possible outcomes for all our students. You will oversee school improvement across teaching and learning, curriculum, inclusion, attendance and leadership, ensuring that support and challenge are targeted where they are needed most.

You will work across our secondary academies to translate Trust-wide educational strategy into meaningful improvement, developing strong networks and a culture of collaboration where leaders and colleagues share expertise, embrace innovation and take collective responsibility for outcomes. You will also play a key role in developing our approach to inclusion and ensuring that every student, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to high-quality education and the opportunity to succeed.

This is a highly visible and influential role. You will build trusted relationships with Headteachers, Principals and senior leaders, while providing the professional challenge needed to address underperformance and secure sustainable improvement. You will also contribute to the wider strategic direction and growth of the Trust and, where required, may provide executive leadership within one of our secondary academies.

The role is hybrid, with regular travel to our academies across Berkshire, Hampshire and Sussex.

We are looking for an exceptional educational leader with a proven track record of leading high-performing secondary schools and delivering transformational improvement.

You will bring substantial experience of senior leadership across the secondary phase, a deep understanding of teaching and learning, curriculum and inclusion, and the ability to use evidence and data to identify priorities and drive meaningful improvement. You will be able to demonstrate a strong personal impact on outcomes and a clear understanding of what excellent education looks like in practice.

As a leader of leaders, you will be highly skilled at coaching, mentoring, influencing and challenging senior colleagues. You will combine high expectations with an open, collaborative and supportive approach, empowering others to achieve ambitious goals while holding them firmly to account for outcomes.

You will be passionate about inclusion and committed to ensuring that all students, particularly those with additional learning needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds, receive the high-quality provision they deserve. You will have the resilience, flexibility and strategic thinking required to operate effectively across a complex and demanding Trust environment.
