About This Role

East Specialist Inclusive Learning Centre (East SILC) is a large and highly regarded 2-19 generic special school, supporting approximately 470 learners across multiple sites in Leeds. Alongside our core school provision, we deliver a range of city‑wide specialist services and partnerships, working closely with education, health and care colleagues to secure strong outcomes for children and young people with complex needs.

Purpose of the Role

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and developing Post‑16 provision for learners with severe and complex learning needs, ensuring strong Preparation for Adulthood pathways and positive destinations.

The successful candidate will:

        • Provide strategic middle‑leader oversight of Post‑16 provision at Shine
        • Lead and refine an ambitious, inclusive PfA curriculum
        • Strengthen cross‑site coherence and transition pathways
        • Build meaningful partnerships with employers and community providers
        • Contribute to East SILC’s self‑evaluation, quality assurance and improvement agenda

We are looking for a committed professional who combines strong classroom credibility with emerging or established leadership expertise, and who is ready to make a sustained impact within a system‑wide organisation.

We offer an extensive range of opportunities and benefits at East SILC. All staff participate in a robust induction programme and a strong commitment to continuous professional development, career progression and equal opportunities.

We provide pension schemes for all staff, opportunities for flexible working and protected PPA time off‑site for teachers. Staff wellbeing is a priority, supported through a comprehensive wellbeing package provided by Schools Advisory Service including but not limited to:

            • Fast‑track GP access
            • Physiotherapy
            • Counselling support

In addition, all staff can access to a wide range of benefits through Leeds City Council, including salary sacrifice schemes such as electric vehicle leasing and cycle‑to‑work, and VIVUP, offering access to an extensive range of goods and services at discounted rates.

The East SILC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments are made subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS formally CRB) and medical clearance from Leeds City Council’s Occupational Health Service.

It is illegal to apply if you are on the Children’s Barred List.

The East SILC promotes diversity and wants a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds.
