Deputy Head of Department, English (Primary School)
About This Role
Pride ISM is seeking a thoughtful, strategic, and nurturing Deputy Head of English to join our Primary School English Department, starting in August 2026.
In this role, the Deputy Head of English will work closely with the Head of Department to foster excellence within the department, improve curriculum delivery, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning that meets Cambridge standards and our school's curriculum. This crucial middle leadership position is well-suited for a dynamic educator with a strong subject background, a successful teaching history, and a commitment to supporting the development of both students and fellow educators.
The ideal applicant will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in education or a related discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Significant teaching experience.
- Previous leadership or managerial experience, such as in a coordinator or lead teacher capacity.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Cambridge guidelines and school curriculum, alongside strong skills in curriculum development and instructional planning.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and assist colleagues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities for effective interaction with staff, students, and parents.
- Competence in using technology to enhance teaching, learning, and departmental functions.
- A strong dedication to professional growth, with capabilities in mentoring and training teachers.
- A clean background check or police clearance, with no issues regarding suitability to work with children.
