About This Role
Humanities Teacher
We are in search of a qualified and seasoned Humanities teacher to become a part of our secondary department. This role primarily involves instructing lower school students (ages 11-14) in history and geography. The perfect candidate will be adaptable and open to the possibility of teaching additional subjects in the future, such as Global Perspectives or Computer Science.
Responsibilities
•
Deliver engaging, well-structured, and relevant lessons utilizing a variety of effective teaching methods and tailored learning approaches.
•
Maintain a thorough understanding of the content, pedagogical strategies, and relevant curricula/frameworks.
•
Create effective learning sequences with defined objectives, success metrics, and assessments to ensure progress, incorporating digital tools.
•
Provide tailored support for all students, including those with IEPs or varying abilities, to foster equality and enhance achievement.
•
Enhance students' literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy/ICT competencies.
•
Utilize school systems to assess needs, establish ambitious targets, track progress, and give constructive feedback.
•
Leverage both internal and external data to inform assessments, evaluate teaching effectiveness, and improve practices.
•
Encourage student reflection and growth through peer and self-assessment.
•
Prepare precise written reports and evaluations that reflect a clear understanding of reporting protocols.
•
Create a purposeful, positive, and safe learning atmosphere, managing behavior constructively to encourage self-discipline and independence.
•
Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of students, providing support for at-risk pupils through collaboration with parents/carers and colleagues.
•
Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, sharing timely and relevant updates on attainment, progress, and well-being, while adhering to the use of English as per policy.

Actively support and embrace the school's Mission, Philosophy, Aims, and the One School Policy.
•
Dedicate oneself to professional growth by enhancing practices, assessing performance, and incorporating feedback.
Key Requirements
•
A degree and a teaching qualification in Humanities (History/Geography).
•
Proficiency in English.
•
Qualified teacher status with relevant experience.
•
A minimum of two years of experience is preferred.
•
Solid subject knowledge in Humanities at the secondary level.
•
Demonstrated capability to effectively teach lower school students (ages 11-14) across both subjects.
•
Experience with IB and IGCSEs is an advantage.
•
Background in a school environment is required.
