General Science Teacher- KS3 and KS4
About This Role
Spark Scientific Discovery: Teacher of Science (General Science with Specialisms)
British West Indies Collegiate (BWIC) is on the lookout for a dynamic, adaptable, and intellectually engaging educator to join our Science Department. This presents a remarkable chance to become part of the leading independent school in the Turks and Caicos Islands, providing a top-quality British international education to a diverse and enthusiastic student population of 195.
As a school that emphasizes the "whole student," we seek an educator who can foster a love for inquiry across various disciplines, from the basic tenets of Key Stage 3 to the intricate details of IGCSE and A-Level studies.
The Role
• Curriculum Excellence: Provide high-quality General Science lessons throughout Key Stage 3 and specialized instruction following the Cambridge (CAIE) IGCSE and A-Level curricula.
• Disciplinary Versatility: We are in search of a teacher who can teach any core science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). A background or keen interest in Marine Science is particularly advantageous due to our exceptional coastal setting and well-equipped department.
• Interdisciplinary Contribution: At BWIC, we appreciate the "all-rounder" educator. The ability or willingness to lend teaching support in additional subjects—such as Humanities, Performing Arts, or Psychology—is viewed as a significant asset.
• Academic Leadership: Support students in navigating the challenges of the scientific method, hands-on laboratory work, and exam readiness, ensuring that every Spartan reaches their fullest potential.
• Community Engagement: Engage in the "extended family" culture of BWIC by participating in school-wide events, house competitions, and fostering the personal growth of our students.
The Ideal Candidate
• Qualified Scientist: Possesses a recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent) alongside a robust Honors degree in a Science discipline.
• Versatile Academic: A teacher who flourishes in diverse environments and demonstrates the intellectual agility to instruct across various subjects and age levels.
• Proven Track Record: Experience delivering the British curriculum (ideally CAIE) with a history of guiding students toward exceptional examination achievements.
• Passionate Mentor: Someone who recognizes that a "true Spartan" is developed through both academic rigor and character growth.
Why Join BWIC?
• Well-Resourced Environment: Teach in a department equipped with advanced science laboratories, dedicated IT facilities, and the astonishing "living laboratory" of the Turks and Caicos marine ecosystem.
• Small Class Sizes: Enjoy the benefits of small, focused groups that facilitate meaningful practical work, in-depth inquiry, and tailored academic support.
• A Lifestyle Unmatched: Experience life on "Provo," where professional excellence is complemented by stunning beaches and a supportive international faculty community.
