ROLE SUMMARY:
St. George’s International School, situated in Clarens beside the beautiful Lake Geneva in Switzerland, is currently looking for a Geography and Humanities Teacher to join our Senior School. The chosen candidate will report to the Head of Humanities Faculty and will be responsible for teaching Geography at IB, A Level, and/or IGCSE levels, as well as contributing to humanities instruction at Key Stage 3.

This role requires delivering stimulating, inquiry-driven lessons, facilitating student progression, and enhancing the broader school experience through teamwork, pastoral care, and involvement in extra-curricular initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruct Geography at IB, A Level, and/or IGCSE levels.


Teach various humanities subjects at KS3, including geography, history, and global perspectives.


Provide engaging, inquiry-focused lessons that foster excellent learning outcomes.


Prepare students for IBDP assessments, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs).


Adhere to faculty assessment guidelines and take part in student evaluations and feedback processes.


Participate in parent-teacher meetings and school gatherings as needed.


Collaborate with peers to advance curriculum development within the Humanities department.


Offer class coverage when required.


Serve as a positive role model for students and maintain school standards.


Engage with the school community through tutoring, pastoral care, and extra-curricular activities, including leading a club.


Thrive in an international and multicultural setting.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Demonstrated experience teaching Geography at IB, A Level, and IGCSE levels.


A degree in Geography or a related discipline along with a recognized teaching qualification.


A solid grasp of IBDP assessment methods, including Internal Assessments (IAs) and Extended Essays (EEs), as well as A Level evaluation criteria.


The capability to teach a variety of humanities subjects (e.g., geography, history, global perspectives); experience in Theory of Knowledge (ToK) is a plus.


Experience managing fieldwork activities in a safe manner.


Strong classroom management abilities, with a talent for establishing clear expectations and aiding student development.


Excellent skills in planning, assessment, and feedback, coupled with confidence in using ICT for teaching purposes.


A dedication to student welfare, safeguarding, and ongoing professional development.


Experience teaching Senior School students (ages 11–18) in an international context.


C2-level English proficiency (or equivalent native level).

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
