THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a private, co-educational IB World School catering to students from PreK through Grade 12. Founded in 2008 and part of GEMS Education, we are authorized to offer the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programs. GWA is also accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our Music department has played a pivotal role in elevating student outcomes and fostering a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success stems from the commitment of our staff, their outstanding subject expertise, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum. The Music department is well-respected by our students for the personal care and support it provides.

SKILLS
The ideal candidate will have a proven record of effective teaching and facilitating student success. While experience with the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme is preferred, exceptional teachers from varied curricular backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Alignment with the IB philosophy and commitment to the values of the Learner Profile is essential. A genuine enthusiasm for working in a culturally diverse and non-selective community is also a key requirement. Additionally, candidates should possess:

A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree alongside a relevant teaching qualification, such as a PGCE, PGDE, or an equivalent specialization in Music
•
While advanced qualifications are preferred, they are not mandatory
•
At least 3 years of experience teaching Secondary Music, preferably within an IB curriculum school, though this is not a strict requirement
•
A solid understanding of the IB MYP/DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred
•
A strong desire to continuously enhance their practice and deliver exceptional teaching and learning experiences for students
•
The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that align with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy
•
Availability starting August 2026

NEXT STEPS
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an initial screening call, followed by interviews in early 2026 (both in-person and virtual) for positions beginning in August 2026. Please note that interviews are conducted by invitation only.
We will also be traveling to the UK in April for in-person interviews.
