About This Role

Role Description:

The SEN Coordinator position is designated as a 0.5 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) role. The additional 0.5 FTE will be allocated based on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience, and the strategic needs of the school.

Preference may be given to individuals who can merge the SEN Coordinator responsibilities with roles in College and University Counselling, thereby assisting students and families in navigating post-secondary pathways and applications.

Where applicable, the extra allocation may include teaching or another specialized role that aligns with the candidate’s skills and the school’s program requirements. This may include, but is not limited to, English language instruction, learning support, or another academic discipline. This arrangement guarantees that the school continues to provide robust support for students with additional learning needs while effectively utilizing staff expertise throughout the broader academic program.

This challenging position calls for an individual with the necessary qualifications and demonstrated experience as a Special Educational Needs Coordinator or Learning Support Coordinator. The ideal candidate will be resourceful, empathetic, proactive, and possess a friendly and optimistic demeanor. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with special education colleagues across regional ISP schools, exhibit comprehensive knowledge of disabilities and disorders, and be capable of delivering or facilitating suitable interventions and support in an educational environment. Experience with students for whom English is an additional language is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

· Execute all responsibilities pertinent to the SENCO role, which includes conducting and assessing evaluations, creating IEPs, IBPs, and ALPs, collaborating with staff and parents to ensure proper provision and support, as well as monitoring and reporting on student progress.

· Sustain the Inclusion Register and provision map of interventions throughout the school for SEN, G+T, EAL, and students with learning or behavioral challenges.

· Lead the Inclusion team within the school and ensure the effective application of learning support resources.

· Identify the training and development needs of the entire staff based on student data and/or current curriculum changes and facilitate in-house CPD learning support sessions.

· Report on the attainment and progress of students on the SEN register and review overall school assessment data to pinpoint priority areas and/or students for targeted intervention.

· Engage in professional development opportunities and collaborate with external specialists and Inclusion colleagues to enhance outcomes for students.

Qualification & Experience:

· Bachelor’s Degree in education/PGCE with postgraduate, university-level qualifications in Special Education—such as SENCO accredited training or a Master’s in Special Education.

· Experience in the role of SENCO or Learning Support Coordinator, leading a team of educational professionals.

· Promote inclusion and provide support to all staff, families, and students on SEN and inclusion matters throughout the school.

· Develop policies and practices that foster high-quality outcomes for all students, particularly those identified with SEN.

· Background in child development or related fields, preferably in counselling.

· Familiarity with international early childhood education standards.

· Proficient command of the English language, both written and spoken.
