Role Overview

In our school, Mentors serve not just as educators but as guides, role models, and advocates for creativity. We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Art Mentor to facilitate inspiring and inclusive art experiences for both Primary and Secondary phases. This position focuses on unlocking creativity, nurturing self-expression, and assisting learners in discovering their artistic identities.

Key Responsibilities


· Design and implement captivating art experiences that are age-appropriate, welcoming, and aligned with educational goals.

· Encourage creativity and self-assurance in students through the exploration of a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital tools.

· Establish a nurturing and open studio atmosphere where learners feel encouraged to experiment and express themselves freely.

· Mentor students both individually and in groups to enhance their technical abilities and creative thought processes.

· Plan, coordinate, and showcase exhibitions, displays, and collaborative art projects within the school and the broader community.

· Work in partnership with fellow mentors to link art with broader learning themes and interdisciplinary initiatives.

· Provide constructive feedback and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments.

· Promote and exemplify the school’s values, fostering curiosity, empathy, and resilience through artistic endeavors.

· Stay informed on contemporary art trends and innovative teaching and mentoring methods.

Qualifications & Skills:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).

· Teaching qualification or equivalent experience in a mentorship-focused educational environment.

· Experience with both primary and secondary age groups.

· Excellent interpersonal skills with the capacity to inspire and guide learners across all abilities.

· Proficient in various traditional and contemporary art forms, including digital media.

· A reflective practitioner with a growth mindset and enthusiasm for continuous learning.

Desirable


· Background in exhibitions, art showcases, or leading creative projects.

· Understanding of child-centered, project-based learning methodologies.

· Familiarity with digital tools for creating and documenting art.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
