Role Purpose

We are in search of an experienced and passionate educator to fill the role of A Level Chemistry/Secondary Math Teacher. This key position involves teaching Chemistry at A Level and Lower Secondary Math, contributing significantly to our educational team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver exceptional lessons in A Level Chemistry, IGCSE Science, and Secondary Math.
  • Create and implement assessment strategies in accordance with Cambridge guidelines to track and support student progress.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to formulate interdisciplinary approaches, enhancing the overall learning experience.
  • Establish a supportive learning environment that fosters academic achievement and personal growth.
  • Work with peers to develop high-quality lesson plans and learning schemes.
  • Design engaging, interactive lessons that focus on student involvement.
  • Provide instruction aligned with curriculum standards and utilize subject-specific materials effectively.
  • Cater to individual student needs by differentiating instruction for diverse abilities.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with students across classes to promote high levels of learning.
  • Share teaching practices with colleagues and engage in a professional learning community aimed at enhancing educational quality school-wide.
  • Maintain high expectations, operating under the belief that all students can exceed their current capabilities.
  • Prepare classrooms by organizing and setting up necessary equipment for student learning.
  • Monitor inventory and procure learning materials as needed.
  • Assign and evaluate student projects, assignments, and exams.
  • Document and communicate student progress.
  • Encourage student involvement in maintaining classroom cleanliness.
  • Execute the role in alignment with Cambridge Teaching Standards.
  • Attend faculty meetings and other school gatherings as required.
  • Support students during school hours and extracurricular activities.
  • Assist students in after-school educational support programs as needed.
  • Actively contribute to the HAIS monthly publication, HAISLife.
  • Participate in ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Undertake tasks assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or Learning Leads.
  • Embody the values of Hoi An International School.

Pastoral / Student Well-being

  • Engage with parents regarding academic and pastoral issues, including follow-ups on student reports, parent-teacher meetings, and school events.
  • Support the school’s pastoral and support systems aimed at enhancing student well-being.
  • Develop and implement sector-specific and school-wide pastoral initiatives and programs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for students, offering guidance and support.
