About This Role

GLF Schools seeking an exceptional Head of Data to provide strategic leadership for how data is designed, governed, analysed and used across GLF Schools. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our mission to improve educational outcomes, strengthen organisational effectiveness, and support evidence informed decision making across a large and growing Multi Academy Trust.

Your Opportunity

As our Head of Data, you will shape the future of GLF’s data ecosystem - ensuring we have coherent, trusted and high quality data that drives meaningful insight. Working closely with the Head of Impact, Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO), and senior education and operational leaders, you will lead the development of analytics capability, set trust wide data strategy and standards, and ensure that data is used ethically, responsibly and with maximum impact.

You will oversee the design and evolution of data platforms, implement robust governance, and foster strong data literacy across our schools and central services. From predictive analytics to evidence informed improvement, you will play a critical role in enabling early insight, rigorous evaluation and continuous learning across the organisation.

This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker who combines technical expertise with excellent leadership skills - someone who can inspire confidence, build capability, and drive innovation in how data is used to transform outcomes for children and young people.

This will be a hybrid post, with opportunities to work from home and at one of our Head Offices (The Beacon School, Banstead) or Earlsfield (London), or one of our satellite offices in Camberley, Caterham, Crawley, or Banbury.

What we are looking for:

Essential Experience

  • Proven expertise in Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience using Python for data analysis.
  • Experience developing theories of change and applying them to drive practical implementation and improvement.
  • Ability to turn complex data into clear, compelling insight for diverse audiences in a large public sector organisation.
  • Demonstrated use of evidence from sector bodies (e.g. EEF, DfE) to inform change and improvement.
  • Experience leading innovation, pilots or test and learn initiatives.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and build organisational learning cultures.
  • Strong analytical capability alongside the ability to interpret, contextualise and communicate findings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines and foster collaboration.
  • Strategic thinker with high levels of curiosity and rigour.

Desirable

  • Experience working with schools, MATs or other education organisations.
  • Knowledge of education data systems (e.g. MIS, assessment platforms).
  • Understanding of emerging technologies (e.g. AI/ML) and their potential value.
  • Knowledge of Science of Learning or related research areas.

Join the GLF Schools Community

As a part of GLF Schools, you will join a community of staff dedicated to transforming education. With regular progression discussions, there will be a wealth of opportunities for you to grow your career, whether in one of our 43 academies or in our central team.

  • A growing Multi Academy Trust with over 2,000 colleagues and over 17,000 pupils
  • Founded upon the values of Respect, Inclusivity, Integrity and Kindness
  • 43 primary and secondary schools across 7 Local Authority areas across the south of England
  • We work as a community whilst ensuring each school maintains its own unique identity
  • Committed to ensuring all children and young people receive the best possible education
