About This Role

We require someone to teach Maths to our Key Stage 4 students on our Harbourside base, these students struggle with their social, emotional and mental health which has resulted in them being excluded or being at risk of exclusion from mainstream school. This role needs someone who can form positive relationships with these young people; to do this you will need to show patience, care and understanding and be flexible, resilient and positive. You will be part of an inclusive and collaborative team that, no matter what the challenge may be, are ready to face it head on and are committed to seeing it through.

The job will involve teaching small groups of students Maths in order for them to gain either a Functional Skills Qualification and/or a GCSE. The aim will be that this supports them into a successful college course or apprenticeship post-16. You will receive training to support you in this role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Teach Maths to Key Stage 4 students at the Harbourside base.

  • Support students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs who have been excluded, or are at risk of exclusion, from mainstream school.

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with young people through patience, care, understanding, and consistency.

  • Demonstrate flexibility, resilience, and a positive approach when supporting students.

  • Work as part of an inclusive, collaborative team committed to overcoming challenges and achieving positive outcomes for students.

  • Teach small groups of students to help them achieve a Functional Skills Qualification and/or GCSE in Maths.

  • Support students in progressing to successful post-16 destinations, including college courses and apprenticeships.

  • Participate in training and development opportunities provided to support you in the role.

What about the Middle Leadership?

The Middle Leader role will be part of the leadership for the KS4 Harbourside base – it will involve working closely with the senior leader for the base to ensure smooth day-to-day running, close liaising with families and external agencies and supporting staff to ensure the young people on that base have a place to belong and flourish and are treated and learn to treat people with kindness and respect.

  • A passionate Maths teacher who believes every young person can succeed.

  • Someone who can build positive relationships through patience, care and understanding.

  • A collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues, families and external agencies.

  • A confident leader who can support the day-to-day leadership of KS4 and help students flourish.

  • Previous experience working with young people with additional needs is desirable but not essential.

  • A good working knowledge of basic IT programmes is essential.


Compensation

<p>SEN £2,384 and TLR £3,651</p>
