Job Purpose: To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.
Job Scope: The counselor will be primarily responsible for developing and executing a counseling program that aligns with the needs of the school and its student body, helping students to thrive in all areas of their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and uphold the ethos and standards of excellence as defined by the GEMS Core Values.
- Establish procedures and timelines to provide academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological counseling to students.
- Oversee the transition process for students.
- Create protocols for obtaining external support for students facing personal and emotional challenges.
- Collaborate with the senior management team to design experiences and activities that support the holistic development of students while fostering responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and other personal and social skills.
- Maintain comprehensive records of student progress, achievements, activities, and interests, utilizing all available data to monitor student advancement.
- Develop proactive guidelines and procedures to address bullying effectively.
- Implement and manage appropriate testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
- Set up systems to promptly inform parents about any issues related to class performance, schoolwork, or behavioral concerns.
- Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond regular working hours when necessary.
- Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as needed.
- Undertake additional tasks as assigned by direct and indirect reporting line managers or supervisors.
