Southpointe is in search of a dynamic, enthusiastic, and collaborative educator who is dedicated to inquiry-based and concept-driven teaching and learning. The Kindergarten Classroom Teacher role will begin on August 27, 2026, and reports to the Junior School Principal or their designate.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with colleagues to design and implement an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary learning program in line with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).
- Foster caring, respectful, and trusting relationships with students and families, understanding the significance of partnership in education.
- Establish a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom atmosphere that promotes student well-being, voice, and mutual respect.
- Integrate relevant and age-appropriate technology to enrich teaching, learning, and student participation.
- Engage in continuous professional development related to the International Baccalaureate, the Primary Years Programme, and other school initiatives.
- Create, plan, and deliver meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and genuine engagement.
- Select and tailor instructional strategies, resources, and learning experiences to accommodate the varied needs of students.
- Develop and implement authentic assessments that inform instruction, promote student growth, and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and comprehensive records of student learning and progress for teaching, assessment, and reporting purposes.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents through reports, conferences, and ongoing dialogue to nurture transparent and supportive relationships.
- Collaborate professionally and positively with all members of the school leadership team to enhance student learning, staff development, and whole-school initiatives.
- Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement in all interactions with colleagues, students, and families.
- Actively participate in the school community by engaging in community-building events both during and outside of school hours.
- Share expertise, enthusiasm, and leadership in co-curricular activities that enhance student learning and enrich school culture.
- Demonstrate robust, research-informed teaching practices in literacy and numeracy throughout the primary years.
- Uphold a shared commitment to the school’s mission and vision while working collaboratively to support the institution’s long-term growth and sustainability.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the school’s Co-Curricular and/or Athletic programs during two out of three terms.
- Perform other teaching or supervisory responsibilities as assigned, which may include teaching any grade from Kindergarten to Grade 5.
- BC Ministry of Education: Certificate of Qualification.
- Preference may be given to candidates with at least 1-2 years of teaching experience and those familiar with the PYP.
- Valid First-Aid certificate.
Salary
Southpointe's teacher salary grid is set at 6% above the Delta public school salary grid at all levels. For the 2025-2026 school year, the annual salary for a full-time teaching position at Southpointe Academy ranges from $68,422 to $116,091, determined by placement on the approved teacher salary grid. The salary grid will see an increase, the percentage of which will be established for the 2026-2027 school year. Placement on the grid is based on qualifications and full-time teaching experience.
