JOB PURPOSE
Aiglon College is a renowned international boarding school in the Swiss Alps, recognized for delivering a challenging and transformative holistic education within a safe, caring, and supportive environment. The School is accredited by CIS and serves 480 students aged 7-18 from 70 different countries. Our unique learning philosophy is evident from the Junior School through to the Senior School, where students prepare for Cambridge IGCSEs and the IB Diploma Programme.
We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant from August 2026, who will work closely with a senior school student with a neurodiverse learning profile. This role will be centered on helping the student access the curriculum, develop organizational skills, foster independence, and enhance social-emotional well-being within the senior school setting.
The ideal candidate will collaborate with teachers, the Learning Support team, pastoral staff, and parents to ensure the student's full engagement in both academic and community aspects of school life. Experience working with neurodiverse learners (such as those with Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, executive functioning differences, or other specific learning needs) is highly beneficial.
The position is expected to involve 25-35 hours of support weekly and is term-time only.
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Provide tailored support in the classroom and on a one-to-one basis to facilitate the student's access to the curriculum and active participation in learning activities.
•
Cultivate a positive, respectful, and supportive relationship with the student, encouraging confidence, independence, and self-advocacy.
•
Assist the student in developing effective organization, planning, and executive functioning skills, including time management and task prioritization.
•
Aid the student in comprehending instructions, breaking tasks into manageable steps, and maintaining focus during lessons as appropriate.
•
Encourage the student’s social and emotional growth by helping them develop strategies for managing stress, workload, and interpersonal situations.
•
Support the student in establishing effective study habits and learning strategies tailored to their unique learning profile.
•
Facilitate transitions between lessons, activities, or learning environments as necessary.
•
Promote increasing independence over time while providing necessary guidance and support.
•
Enhance the student’s well-being and assist them in accessing appropriate support systems within the school when needed.
Support for Teachers and the Learning Support Team
•
Collaborate with teachers and the Learning Support department to implement agreed-upon strategies and accommodations in lessons.
•
Monitor and report on the student’s engagement, progress, and learning needs.
•
Provide feedback to relevant staff regarding the effectiveness of strategies and interventions.
•
Assist teachers in modifying materials or methods as needed to support the student’s learning access.
•
Aid in tracking the student’s academic progress and overall well-being.
•
Contribute to meetings regarding the student’s support plan as appropriate.
•
Help ensure that learning environments remain supportive, inclusive, and structured for the student.
Support for the School
•
Build and maintain positive professional relationships with teachers, pastoral staff, learning support specialists, and other relevant professionals.
•
Communicate with parents and boarding staff as needed, guided by the Learning Support team.
•
Uphold confidentiality while facilitating effective communication among relevant stakeholders.
•
Continuously review and enhance personal professional practice and knowledge concerning neurodiversity and inclusive education.
Support for the Curriculum
•
Assist in the use of information and communication technology within the classroom.
•
Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people in your care or contact with.
•
Ensure tasks are performed with appropriate regard to Health and Safety.
•
Engage in relevant professional development, including adhering to appraisal/performance management principles.
•
Embody the ethos of Aiglon and champion the school’s vision and objectives while exemplifying personal integrity and professionalism.
•
Attend relevant staff meetings, parent meetings, and open evenings.
OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•
Understand and implement all school policies and procedures, especially those related to safeguarding children and young people.
•
Carry out any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Head of Learning Support to facilitate the team's smooth operation.
