ROLE SUMMARY:

St. Louis School, a premier international institution in Milan and a member of the Inspired Education Group, is devoted to excellence in academics, arts, and sports. Instruction is conducted in English, and students are prepared for IGCSE and IBDP pathways within the St. Louis School network.

We are eager to welcome a passionate and qualified Middle School Humanities Teacher to join the Colonna Campus beginning August 2026. The selected candidate will teach Humanities to Middle School students (equivalent to Key Stage 3), covering History and Geography.

The perfect candidate will ignite curiosity about the world, enhance students' critical thinking and analytical abilities, and cultivate an understanding of historical, geographical, and cultural contexts within a vibrant international framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver engaging and high-quality Humanities lessons that align with the school's curriculum and the British educational framework.

• Enhance students’ knowledge and comprehension across History, Geography, and associated fields through structured and differentiated teaching methods.

• Encourage critical thinking, inquiry skills, and global awareness.

• Establish a positive, inclusive, and academically ambitious classroom atmosphere.

• Assess, monitor, and report on student progress to uphold high standards of achievement.

• Prepare students thoroughly for IGCSE Humanities pathways.

• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, departmental initiatives, and sharing best practices.

• Maintain excellent standards of behavior and contribute to pastoral care.

• Foster positive engagement with parents and the broader school community.

• Consistently uphold safeguarding and child protection protocols.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A Bachelor’s Degree in History, Geography, Humanities, or a closely related discipline.

• A PGCE or an equivalent recognized teaching qualification.

• Experience teaching Humanities at the secondary or upper primary level.

• Strong organizational and classroom management capabilities.

• Native or near-native proficiency in English, with outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

• A collaborative, student-centered, and reflective teaching philosophy.

• Experience with the British curriculum (desirable).

• Background in an international or multilingual school environment (desirable).

• Familiarity with IGCSE Humanities subjects (desirable).

• Proficiency in Italian is advantageous but not mandatory.

Requirements

• Recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification preferred.

• An EU passport or valid visa to work in Italy would be beneficial.

• Familiarity with the British curriculum is preferred.

Interviews may be conducted via Zoom and could commence before the application closing date. Relocation support will be available in accordance with school policy.
